This case involved academic integrity and impermissible benefit violations in the men’s basketball program at CSUN. The COI resolved the institution’s case via negotiated resolution (NR), which was approved on June 20, 2025. Former assistant men's basketball coach Jordan Jamestown and head men's basketball coach Andy Newman contested aspects of the enforcement staff’s allegations at a virtual hearing. Former director of operations Casey Norris was a nonparticipating party, and the panel also considered his conduct at the hearing.
CSUN agreed to five years of probation; a fine of $40,000 plus 4% of the men’s basketball program budget; recruiting restrictions; a scholarship reduction; vacation of records; and disassociation of a booster. The panel prescribed a five-year show-cause order for Norris and a suspension from 100 percent of one season should be become employed during the show-cause period; a one-year show-cause order for Jamestown requiring his attendance at the Regional Rules Seminar and a 10 percent suspension; and a one-year show-cause order for Newman requiring his attendance at the Regional Rules Seminar. The panel also adopted CSUN’s self-imposed three-game suspension of Newman, which he served in November 2024.
