MEMBERSHIP -- DIVISION I-A REQUIREMENTS -- NATIONAL SERVICE ACADEMIES

Intent: To except the national service academies from the minimum financial aid requirements for Division I-A members.

Bylaws: Amend Proposal No. 01-123, 20.9.6 by adding new 20.9.6.4.1, as follows:

Rationale: Under the current legislation, Division I-A institutions only need satisfy the general minimum financial requirements for all Division I institutions, set forth in Bylaw 20.9.1. The national service academies do not provide athletically related financial aid, but are exempted from the general financial aid minimum requirements under Bylaw 20.9.1.2.7. This amendment provides the service academies with a similar exception to the additional minimum financial aid requirements for Division I-A institutions instituted by Proposal No. 01-123.
