Pursuant to Bylaw 19.10.6, this negotiated resolution has no precedential value. Marks placed a total of 1,649 impermissible bets totaling approximately $10,000 involving the use of an online sports betting platform, including 1,319 bets on professional sports competitions and 330 bets on NCAA sports competitions.
A two-year show-cause order for Marks in which any employing member school must require Marks to complete meaningful sports betting education and provide sports betting education to his peers; a suspension from eight regular-season contests (the equivalent of 15% of the baseball regular season) during the first season of his employment within the show-cause period. During that suspension, Marks cannot participate in any coaching activities, including being present or communicating with baseball coaching staff members or student-athletes; and public reprimand and censure through the release of the negotiated resolution agreement.
